
The five go together like salt and pepper and are enjoying their lives, however, one day, they start finding themselves randomly body-swapping with each other for 30 minutes at a time. The members of the club are as follows: bright and friendly Club President Iori Nagase, calm and logical, but actually a bit clumsy Vice-President Himeko 'Inaban' Inaba, selfless problem-solver Taichi Yaegashi, former karateka Yui Kiriyama, and Taichi's friend and everyone's mate Yoshifumi Aoki.

They form their own Student Cultural Society, which is primarily a social activity, which involves publishing newsletters, from time to time. As these five friends face many different phenomena at the whims of a mysterious being known as Heartseed, their friendship is put to the ultimate test.Five students at Yamaboshi Private High School decide to form their own club, since there are no clubs that interest them. One day, they begin experiencing a phenomenon in which they randomly swap bodies amongst themselves. The story involves five high school students, Taichi, Iori, Himeko, Yoshifumi and Yui, who are all members of the Cultural Research Club. Four additional OVA episodes (called Kokoro Connect: Michi Random) aired on December 30, 2012. A 13 episode anime adaptation directed by Shin'ya Kawatsura and produced by Silver Link aired in Japan between July and September 2012. A manga adaptation titled Kokoro Connect Hito Random illustrated by Cuteg began serialization in October 2010. The first volume was published in January 2010, and seven volumes have been released by Enterbrain as of February 2012.
